POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A 7-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital after she was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike Thursday night.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a call near the intersection of Highland Drive and Grove Road 1 in Lake Wales a little before 7 p.m.

Deputies said a 48-year-old man was driving north in a 2018 Ford F350 on Highland Drive when the 7-year-old, who wasn't wearing a helmet, rode her bike into the path of the truck.
The driver remained on scene. Deputies said he didn't show any signs of impairment and is cooperating with investigators.
The 7-year-old girl was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, where she was listed in critical condition.
At this time, the driver is not facing charges.
