Waste Pro USA tells ABC Action News they will be crediting customer accounts who have been impacted by late, or missed trash pickups in the last few weeks.
Neighbors tell ABC Action News that parts of the Seminole and Largo areas will be going on three weeks this coming Monday without trash pickup with no explanation.
"I'm surprised it's not just crawling with maggots, it's been sitting for days," said Rick Choppolla.
Choppolla said trash pickups have been delayed, or missed completely for several weeks.
"You call and most times you get an answering machine, and sometimes in the afternoon, if you're lucky you'll talk to somebody," he said.
In an email to ABC Action News, Waste Pro USA's Senior Vice President Ron Pecora said they are working on the issues in Pinellas County:
A number of our customers in Seminole, Palm Harbor and Largo are experiencing unacceptable garbage collection service. We apologize and have trucks in route to catch up on missed service. If customers see a truck driving by across the street, it is because our trucks with the container on the front can only serve one side of a street at a time. The truck will be back. Additionally, there are three garbage companies serving this area. Customers can tell Waste Pro service from the green containers with blue tops.
Our service improvement plan includes a new Division Manager that has undergone orientation and will be in place shortly in our Clearwater Facility. The national driver shortage has impacted our driver staffing and we have two new drivers starting next week. We are also issuing credits for any and all misses. Customer calls for refunds will be returned so please leave messages. Again we apologize and are committed to provide the service our customers deserve and expect.
Pecora said customers who received any and all misses will be credited -- he suggests customers call and leave a message.
