ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. —
Imagine sitting in a dark movie theater and you look up to see a mouse sitting behind you eating popcorn. That's what more than a dozen people claim happened to them at the AMC Sundial 20 in St. Petersburg Tuesday night.
Chris St. Julain Sr. said he and others were waiting for the movie to start when someone shouted, "a mouse!" He took out his phone, and did what people normally do these days, started recording.
"That sent everyone into panic mode," he said. "It was chaos, everyone started running out."
Then, according to St. John, a man grabbed his wife's scarf and used that to catch the mouse. He said the guy then took the mouse outside to let him go.
St. John said his wife and others went to tell the employees about the mouse, but he claims none of them ever came to help. He said his wife asked for a refund for their food, "they told her they couldn't give her a refund. they gave her two free tickets for another movie."
ABC Action News talked to a manager at the theater today. they directed us to corporate. We have called corporate and left several messages. We're waiting to hear back.
We checked the theater's inspection reports on the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's website. We didn't find any major issues in the reports. There were two times where they didn't have the proper license and another issue with the wall near the dish-washing area. According to DBPR, staff corrected those issues.
Even though St. John and his wife stayed to watch the movie Tuesday, he said they probably will not go back until they know it's clean.
According to DBPR, no one called to complain about a mouse at the theater Tuesday. If they get a complaint they will go out and inspect it right away.
