ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — “Walk, walk, roar, turn!”

“Roar, turn, roar, turn!”

A swarm of wannabe zombies are learning the iconic Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance in a ballroom at the Bilmar Beach Resort on Treasure Island.

Leading the group is instructor Leanna Wharry. She is guiding this group, the Thrill St. Pete flash mob, for seven of its 10 years.

“By the time you’ve danced it three times, you’ll know it,” says Wharry. “And then you’ll never hear Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ the same way again.”

Thrill St. Pete is open to everyone.

Every September and October, they practice and perform “Thriller” all over the Tampa Bay area, raising money for local charities.

Proceeds from most of the flash mobs will benefit the Mr. Strong Foundation, which offers financial assistance to children with special needs.

Thrill St. Pete raised more than $19,000 in its decade of dancing.

The group will summon a sea of zombies for a massive outdoor dance party at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg on Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m.

The public is invited to watch or dance.
