CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Tampa mother gave birth to her son while out on a pontoon boat with her family.

Amber Easterday and her husband, John, rented a pontoon boat on July 4. The couple went out on the water with their friends, when suddenly, Amber started having contractions.

"I would not have been on the boat if I thought this was going to happen and I know it's dangerous, we took our chances, but I felt fine so we went out," said Amber Easterday.

The couple and their friends were able to get the boat to shore near the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Fire Medics, Kenny Sweitzer and Tyler Whitfield, arrived to help.

"Once we got on the boat, I got on the boat first. The boat was rocking a little bit, jumped on there. Dad says she's going to be delivering pretty soon," said Kenny Sweitzer.

Aiden was born on the pontoon boat. Paramedic Brandon Nelson brought the baby to a local hospital.

The Freedom Boat Club Tampa Bay renamed the boat, "Aiden's Arrival."

"We actually thought we would get charged for the boat cleaning or something and get in trouble for someone else having to drive the boat back who was not allowed, but they were very awesome. Super cool for them to do this," said Amber.

"He's definitely too young to know what's going on, but when he gets older, I hope we can do this every year, come back every year. Hopefully, they'll be fireworks and the world won't be so crazy," added Amber
