CLEARWATER, Fla. — There is a unique program in Clearwater that hopes to bring some smiles to rainy Florida days.
The new Neighborhood Sidewalk Rain Art Program gives residents a chance to put their own artistic skills to the test on their local sidewalks or driveways.
"Our hope with the project is to brighten up gloomy rainy days for our Clearwater residents to beautify our neighborhoods with art and get our residents out in the neighborhood, working with their neighbors and bring together the community to do these projects in their own neighborhoods," says Neighborhoods Coordinator Juliahna Green.
Here's how it works:
- Rent the supplies from Clearwater's Planning and Development Program
- Get to work! Use the rain paint and pre-made stencils to create your work of art
- Wait for some rain for your art to appear
The rain paint is only temporary and lasts up to four months.
Another cool fact: Juliahna says some residents have even created their own stencils and donated them back to the program.
