Pinellas woman arrested for throwing hot coffee at Burger King employee, records show

SEMINOLE, Fla. — A woman in Pinellas County is facing an aggravated battery charge after she threw a hot cup of coffee at a Burger King employee, according to arrest records.

Anastasia Lantier, 18, was arrested on Saturday after the incident at the Burger King on Seminole Boulevard. It happened just after 10 a.m.

According to arrest records, Lantier went into the restaurant after experiencing an issue while in the drive-thru. She and the employee got into a verbal altercation and she picked up the cup of coffee and threw it at the victim, according to the documents.

The coffee, which was measured at 250 degrees Fahrenheit, burned the victim on her face, hands and arms, the documents state.

The victim and Lantier then got into a physical altercation. According to the records, the victim was scratched and Lantier was scratched and bit.

Authorities spoke to Lantier at her home and she admitted to grabbing the cup, but said she didn't know what was inside or what she was going to do with it. After her arrest, she admitted to grabbing it with the intention of throwing it "in the general direction of the victim," according to the records.

Authorities say Lantier and the victim did not know each other.
