ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A downtown St. Petersburg restaurant is temporarily closing its doors due to coronavirus concerns.

Hawkers Asian Street Fare on Central Avenue announced it will shut down "due to the recent spike in positive COVID-19 cases across the City of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County." Hawkers explained on social media that the temporary closure will allow the restaurant to deep clean the facilities.

The restaurant did not give a target date on when it will reopen.

As of Tuesday, June 16, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) reports 2,523 cases, 475 hospitalizations and a death toll of 107 in just Pinellas County alone. Across Florida, DOH reports 80,109 cases in the state and a death toll of 2,993.
