ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Beginning Monday, Feb. 25, a pet food pantry in St. Pete will move locations.

Friends of Strays will now partner with the St. Petersburg Free Clinic to provide low-income households free cat and dog food.

The program first started in 2015 and has distributed more than 180,000 pounds of food to lower-income families.

The pantry was previously located inside the pet shelter.

"There are so many animals out there with loving families, people who desperately want to keep them at home and have fallen on tough times and are unable to afford food. We want to make sure those animals stay at home with their loving parents," says Dara Eckart, CEO of Friends of Strays.

Eckart calls the move a win-win for everyone.

The St. Petersburg Free Clinic is located at 836 3rd Avenue North.
