Frida's Cafe & Bakery in Largo lets the good times roll with authentic Mardi Gras desserts

LARGO, Fla. — Frida's Cafe & Bakery is letting the good times roll this Fat Tuesday.

The Largo hotspot, located at 9700 Ulmerton Road, is selling an assortment of Mardi Gras specialties, including King cakes, poonchkis and beignets.

Namesake owner Frida Alipour says the Carnival celebration perfectly encapsulates the bakery's joyful mission statement.

"We want to make people happy," says Frida, who's owned the bakery with husband Jeff for more than 15 years. "We want people to come here and forget about their anxiety. That is our job, and we take it seriously."

Available in chocolate, cheese and cherry, King cakes come complete with hidden Baby Jesus figures that bring good fortune to those that find them.

"Finding ther baby is very good luck!" Frida says. "A sign something really good is going to happen to you."

King cakes sells for about $16 each.
