A dog was shot and killed by St. Pete Police after they say it attacked a 67-year-old woman as well as an officer.
Around 7:40 Friday morning police were dispatched to the 800 block of 93rd Ave N, where a 67-year-old woman had been bitten by a dog multiple times and was suffering serious injuries.
The dog also reportedly bit one of the officers who responded before the owner could get the dog under control.
Police say the dog broke the chain collar it was on and charged officers. It was shot to stop it from attacking again. The dog did not survive.
The woman was transported to the hospital and the police officer went to the hospital for treatment.
An investigation into this incident is underway.
