Deadly crash involving dump truck closes down SB I-275 in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — At least one person has died because of a crash involving a dump truck.

The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. on I-275 near 28th Street South in St. Petersburg Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the dump truck crashed into another vehicle while traveling northbound. Then the driver lost control, crashed into the guardrail and overturned.

The driver of the dump truck was ejected.

The crash caused a full load of dirt to spill into the southbound lanes of traffic.

All lanes have since reopened.
