DUNEDIN, Fla. — At the intersection of Keene Road and Union Street in Dunedin, you'll find Linda Overcasher helping children safely across the road.

Overcasher watches over the students from Dunedin Elementary and Dunedin Middle schools. But, she does more than that.

“I love the kids. I consider them mine.”

It's not part of her job description, but Overcasher always has a trunk full of ice cold water on hand for the passing kids.

The kind gesture even caught the attention of some local moms.

“Us moms pay attention to everything so we definitely noticed the good deed she was doing," said Melissa Cole.

“I let them get it themselves because it makes them feel like big shots," said Overcasher.

The moms know Overcasher pays for the water herself, so on Friday they surprised her with a lot more water and gift cards to buy even more.

“They know to come right here and get water. I think it’s fantastic," said mother Linda Beach.

On those unbelievably hot Florida days, a cool drink really goes a long way.

“That’s what we are here to do today is to show gratitude and show her that little acts of kindness can be big," said Beach.

Overcasher already knew the kids appreciated it her, with a stack of handmade thank you cards from them.

But now she’s knows their parents recognize it too.
