ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Raul Quintana has the very cool title of City Architect for St. Petersburg. He is very excited to unveil one of his greatest professional accomplishments: the new St. Pete Pier.
Opening day is getting closer by the day.
Quintana says major construction will be completed by the end of the year.

“It will be better than Disneyland, because it’s free,” says Quintana. “You don’t have to pay any money to come on here. Whether you have 50 cents or 50 dollars, there will be something for you to do.”
The 26-acre waterfront attraction is costing over $80 million to build.
On a recent tour of the Pier, Quintana showed off some of quirkier touches.
The Tilted Lawn will be a “whimsical” place for picnics and sunbathers while families will love the learning provided by Tampa Bay Watch’s Discovery Center.
Men and women in hard hats are working hard on the pier to meet Quintana's deadline.
“It’s the most active construction site in the history of the city,” says Quintana.
