PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A stilt home in the Gulf of Mexico catches fire after a lightning strike. It happened at around 7:50 p.m. at a stilt home located in the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the Cotee River.
When fire crews arrived on scene the home was engulfed in flames. Marine units with a portable fire pump battled the fire, and marine units from Palm Harbor assisted with fighting the fire.
The home is a total loss. The house is known locally as the American Flag stilt home.
Lightning caused the fire according to fire officials.
