PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol says a 35-year-old man was killed and two children were seriously injured after they walked into the path of a vehicle in New Port Richey on Thursday night.

Troopers say the man, whose name has not been released, walked into the intersection of Seven Springs Boulevard and Perrine Ranch Road with four children.

According to a press release, the pedestrians walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle that had a green light.

Troopers say despite the driver trying to avoid them, the adult male, a 10-year-old female and 16-year-old female were hit. All three were taken to the hospital, and the adult male died from his injuries, according to FHP.

The two girls both suffered serious injuries, troopers say. Their exact condition is unknown at this time.

Two additional pedestrians, a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl that were with the group, were not hit during the crash.
