A 23-year-old Spring Hill man has been arrested after he reportedly used a phone app to lure young girls and allegedly had sex with at least one 12-year-old girl.
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office released more information at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
Tyler Dempsey, 23, reportedly used the "Whisper" app to make contact with young girls.
Dempsey would chat with the young girls through the app and in one instance he picked up a 12-year-old girl from her home and brought her to his sister's boyfriend's apartment.
He reportedly asked the 12-year-old girl if she wanted to have sex and she didn't understand what that meant, according to the sheriff.
The suspect had sex with the victim and then took her back to where he picked her up from.
On Monday, the victim spoke to a counselor and investigators got involved and launched an investigation. Deputies identified Dempsey as a suspect and he admitted to the crimes to deputies.
