PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Pasco County Fire Rescue says firefighters have cleared a Port Richey mall of gas after a gas leak was reported on Wednesday.
Mall security at the Gulf View Square Mall, located on US-19 in Port Richey, called 911 at approximately 10:15 a.m. to report a smell of gas inside the mall.
Pasco County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and confirmed the presence of natural gas and evacuated the mall. Crews cleared the mall of gas and turned the mall back over to its owners. Tampa Fire assisted with venting the gas from the mall and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office helped with crowd control. TECO is on scene investigating the cause of the leak.
The mall and parking lot is currently closed to the public. No injuries have been reported.
