HUDSON, Fla. — A Pasco County woman is now $2 million richer after her winning ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers from the Powerball drawing held on October 17, 2018.

Alberta McPherson, 70, of Hudson, bought her winning Quick Pick ticket from the Winn Dixie located at 14134 U.S. 19 North in Hudson. The grocery store received a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

Alberta missed the jackpot by one number. But she isn’t upset.

“We know that God is the one that blessed us with that,” Alberta McPherson said. “If he wanted us to have 3 hundred or whatever million dollars, it would have been a 15 instead of a 5, so we are thankful for what we have.”

She said luck played no part in her winning and credits the news to God.

“If the Lord gave it to you, that’s the only way because it’s one in how many millions that you could hit it? So it had to be meant to be; that is what we are supposed to get,” she said. “I’m so thankful, grateful.”

The Powerball jackpot is now estimated to be $620 million with a cash value of $354.3 million after there were no winners for Saturday's drawing. The next drawing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, at 10:59 p.m. ET.
