PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead after a deputy shocked him with a Taser on Wednesday.

Deputies responded to a call around 6:10 p.m. regarding a person suspected of carrying a weapon at the Home Depot on U.S. 19 in the Port Richey area.

The man immediately ran from the scene as soon as deputies arrived, the sheriff's office said.

The man ran through traffic on U.S. 19 and "became combative" with deputies. One of the deputies then used a Taser on the man, causing him to collapse and become nonresponsive.

First aid was given but the man died at the scene.

Officials have not identified the deputy who used the Taser.
