LACOOCHEE, Fla. — Body camera video released Tuesday by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office shows  Deputy Aaron Polster arriving at an accident scene in Lacoochee.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a woman in a van lost control and sideswiped another deputy’s cruiser by the train tracks.

“I’m just glad you didn’t get hurt too bad,” Polster said to that other deputy.

A corner of the van came to a stop on the tracks at SR 575 and Sanderson Road.

Just as deputies worked on the scene, a train closed in. Deputy Polster tried to get the conductor to stop in time. But when that didn’t happen, he moved everyone out of the way.

He’s turned away, so you can’t see the impact on his body camera, but you can hear the crash.

“Stay back for a minute, just in case it catches fire,” he said in the video.

The CSX train did more damage to the already banged up van.

“I thought that thing was going to hit us for a second though,” he said.

Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.
