Paramedics flew Burns to Bayonet Point Hospital for treatment. A police release said he vital signs were stable at the hospital.
Burn is a 13-year veteran with the Dade City Police Department. Velez has been with the police department one year.
Police video has revealed the vehicle that got away is a 2018 Nissan with Florida tag nuber 770-YRV, Dade City police said. The vehicle is owned by Hertz. It was reported stolen in Tampa.
Police believe the vehicle's windows may have been broken during the encounter. The release said officials do not know whether the driver of the fleeing vehicle was injured.
