PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of drunk driving after he slammed into a camper early Sunday in Pasco County.

It happened at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday morning in the area of Morris Bridge Road and Leisure Days Drive in Zephyrhills.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report, Dakota Weicht, was intoxicated when he passed a car and lost control. His red Ford F-150 went through a fence and struck a camper with a husband and wife sleeping inside.

Thankfully, the couple escaped uninjured because their bedroom was in the front of the camper. Weicht was also unharmed in the crash. The truck and camper were totaled.

While speaking with Weicht, the responding Trooper noticed he had several signs of impairment including slurred, mumbled speech, bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath. According to the report, Weicht spontaneously admitted he had been drinking prior to the crash but refused a field sobriety test.

Weicht agreed to provide a breath sample at the Pasco County Jail. His BAC was 0.168 and 0.165 at the time. His results were twice the legal limit in the state of Florida.

Weicht faces one misdemeanor charge of DUI and was released on a $500 bond.
