PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a suspect in the case of a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist.
FHP tweeted that a tip by Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay led to the arrest.
The accident happened at northbound US-19 and Holiday Hills Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The 43-year-old bicyclist, John Mowry, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
The driver was going northbound in the outside lane of US-19 while Mowry traveled eastbound across the northbound lanes, according to FHP.
FHP says Mowry was hit when he entered the path of the car. The driver of that vehicle then left the scene.
