PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A 3-year-old girl died after being hit by a car Wednesday night in Land O' Lakes.
The Pasco Fire Rescue responded to a home on the 17000 block of Torvest Court. Neighbors said a group of children were playing outside when the crash happened.
One woman said the toddler, later identified as Remington Lily Solano, loved to talk to people and believes the driver did not see the girl on a tricycle.
"She's outspoken. She loves to speak to everybody on the street. She says hello. She comes to your driveway," said Latasha Mackall, a neighbor.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a 39-year-old driver in an SUV had the vehicle in reverse and was backing out of a driveway when he hit Remington.
"Shock, devastated, hurt, praying that this baby is okay. I really want to see her," said Mackall.
Paramedics flew Remington to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital where she died.
An FHP spokesperson said charges against the driver are pending based on the outcome of the investigation.
The toddler was identified as Remington Lily Solano on Thursday in a GoFundMe account set up for the family. She is decried as, "a beautiful fun loving three year old who loved her siblings, pets and could make anyone smile."
