NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A 2-year-old is dead in an apparent drowning in New Port Richey, according to the sheriff's office.
Pasco deputies were called around 7 p.m. to Indian Mound Drive. They say preliminary information indicates the child's grandfather was watching him at the time.
Deputies say the grandfather went to the bathroom and during that time, the toddler got out of the house. The grandfather found him floating in the backyard pool.
Deputies preformed CPR until fire rescue arrived. The child was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No other information was immediately available.
