LARGO, Fla. — Residents of the Palm Hill Mobile Home Park are petitioning Largo leaders to allow them to drive golf carts on city roadways. Many of the residents already drive the carts in the complex.
“It’s convenient you don’t have to take the car out,” said resident Rick Gregorio.
But some city leaders aren’t convinced the plan is a good idea, because of congestion and safety worries. A memo released by the city engineer's office is asking city leaders to deny the plan.
"The existing local roadway network does not provide safe areas to get golf carts across these roadways,” said a representative from Largo’s City Engineer's office.
The city council will review the proposal this month.
