Officer, two others injured in officer-involved crash in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Police are investigating an officer-involved crash with injuries at Rosery Road and Clearwater-Largo Road.

Police say that the call came in at 9:52 p.m. on Tuesday when a Clearwater officer observed a stolen vehicle traveling south on Missouri Ave. approaching the Clearwater-Largo border.

During an attempted traffic stop, t he driver left the scene.

Shortly after, K9 Officer Jesse Myers was responding to assist when the crash happened at Rosery Rd. and Clearwater-Largo Road. The car involved was not related to the stolen vehicle investigation.

Myers was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment of injuries and later released.

Two people in the other car were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment of their injuries and are in stable condition, according to police.

"We are conducting an administrative investigation into the actions of our officers to determine if they complied with policy in their attempts to stop the stolen vehicle," said Deputy Chief Eric Gandy.

The cause of the crash has not been released at this time.

No further information has been released.
