Homeowner shoots intruder in Clearwater, causing life-threatening injuries

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Police is on scene of a shooting at 1501 Cleveland St. where one person was shot and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Officials say it was a homeowner that shot an intruder inside the house. The homeowner is cooperating with police and is at the police station.

The call came in at 9:38 a.m.

No charges are planned against the resident, but the intruder was identified as 31-year-old William Kahle who has a lengthy criminal history. Kahle remains in critical condition at Bayfront Health in St. Pete.

Cleveland St. is closed between Glenwood and Highland as the investigation continues.
