Wrong-way driver killed in head-on crash on I-275

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A woman driving the wrong way on I-275 early Saturday morning was killed after hitting another car head-on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Aryail Gomez, 39, was traveling southbound in the northbound outside lane around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday when she hit Brittany Castilleja, 30, head-on near mile marker 59.

Gomez was killed at the scene. Castilleja was taken to St. Joseph's where she remains in serious condition.

Troops say it's unknown when or where on the interstate Gomez began driving the wrong way.
