HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLA - Deputies are searching for the driver of a truck who ran away after plowing into a home.
Authorities said the truck pinned a woman and her dog, who were on the couch, underneath it. The truck crashed into the home around 6:34 p.m. Saturday. The home is located off Pepperfield Drive.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to St. Joseph's hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
Authorities said they need to speak with Robert Devon Siders III about what he may know of the crash.
People, who live in the neighborhood, heard it.
"I heard screeching tires," Christian Lopez said.
Lopez said neighbors tried to help.
“They were hearing the lady like saying 'help me, help me'. They were trying to push the truck, but the truck was so heavy," Lopez said.
Neighbors called 911. It took firefighters about 35 minutes to free the unidentified woman and her dog. Firefighters used air bags and other equipment to rescue her.
Ana Holguin lives two blocks away. She rushed to the Pepperfield Drive as soon as she knew it was her friend's house.
“Everybody that knows her (says she's) like she’s a sweetheart. This can’t be happening to her," Holguin said.
Neighbors said they are shocked the driver did not stay at the scene.
“He doesn’t have a heart. How can you do that and be like 'ok I'm leaving'? You don’t do that," Lopez said.
Anyone with information about the driver, needs to call the sheriff's office.
