TAMPA, Fla. — ABC Action News is also learning there may be more African American graves. This time, under the MacDill Air Force Base.

A spokesperson for MacDill said there is a wooded area at the base that is in question. History archives show that Port Tampa Cemetery was in the area of MacDill.

They cannot confirm or deny if there is a cemetery there but they are now looking into this.

ABC Action News reporter Nicole Grigg was at a historical committee meeting where Commissioner Les Miller brought this new revelation up.

The new development comes on the same day 145 coffins were found on the property of King High School in Tampa.

The search for any signs of a possible cemetery on the grounds of the local school began October 28 after someone came forward with information to Hillsborough County Public Schools about African-American burials near King High School.
