Temporary lane closures in downtown Tampa near Water Street District start Monday

TAMPA, Fla. — Starting Monday at 9 a.m., there will be temporary lane closures near the Water Street district for utility construction.

A portion of West Platt Street/Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and South Florida Avenue will be closed.

South Florida Avenue between Channelside Drive and Water Street will also close.

This is all because of construction at the new JW Marriott Hotel.

Crews are installing a gas main and service. One eastbound lane on West Platt Street between Bayshore Boulevard and North Ashley Drive, will close Monday.

Two eastbound lanes on Channelside Drive between North Ashley Drive and South Florida Avenue, as well as one southbound lane on South Florida Avenue between Channelside Drive and Water Street will also close Monday morning.

Three eastbound lanes on West Platt Street between Bayshore Boulevard and North Ashley Drive will be open with some delays.

Two eastbound lanes on Channelside Drive between North Ashley Drive and South Florida Avenue and one southbound lane on South Florida Avenue between Channelside Drive and Water Street will also be open with delays.

The sidewalk on both sides of South Florida Avenue between Channelside Drive and the mid-block crosswalk (Thunder Alley) will remain open during construction.

Lanes will reopen to traffic by 4p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, weather permitting.
