TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. -- Firefighters in Temple Terrace understand how disappointed children celebrating birthdays during the coronavirus pandemic are, so they're offering to pay them a special visit.
“As our Community works together through these trying times, we have learned that social distancing can be challenging for all of us, especially our youngest members,” said Fire Chief Ina Kemp.
The department is accepting appointments to bring their truck to the homes of children 18 and under who have birthdays in April. That includes lights, sirens and the firefighters singing "Happy Birthday."
“Our children’s lives have completed changed as they know it. We would like to offer our assistance to those children unable to celebrate their birthday with their friends and loved ones as they have done in previous times.”
The department says the firefighters are subject to call and may not be able to make every request. To arrange a meeting, email Division Chief Scott Murley at smurley@templeterrace.com.
