VALRICO, Fla. — Some high school students in the Tampa Bay area are gearing up for a big competition this weekend.
Culinary students are participating in the "FairTastic" food contest. Their goal: create the next crazy thing to eat the Florida State Fair.
The students at Bloomingdale High School are spending the week testing their creations.
Sebastian Sanchez participated in the event last year and says it taught him one very important lesson.
"From last year, i learned to like put so much effort in yourself and you will accomplish what you will like to do," says Sanchez.
He is making a deep fried strawberry with chocolate and a cheesecake filling.
