TAMPA, Fla. --- Super Bowl LV is coming to Tampa in 2021 and that means a big win for local businesses. The host committee and the NFL want to make sure business owners from all different backgrounds are included in the action.
Mayor Jane Castor, NFL legend Derrick Brooks and others unveiled the Business Connect program at Raymond James Stadium in November.
There is a lot that will go into the big game and even before the game with food, drinks, security, printed hats, T-shirts and more.
So, the NFL and Super Bowl committee are calling for business owners with diverse backgrounds to apply for the Business Connect program.
Participants will include women, minorities, disabled veterans and members of the LGBTQ community.
Those who make it into program will receive a contract related to the game, and will receive some networking and mentoring.
"It's incredibly important,” Mayor Jane Castor said. “One to lift up our small businesses, they are the backbone of our community. So, to be able to lift them up and allow them to prosper, to make those connections, to do whatever it takes to be successful in our community during the Super Bowl and beyond."
