One person dead in double shooting at Tampa liquor store

TAMPA, Fla. — A man wanted for murder and attempted murder in a double shooting, which happened at City Liquors on Wednesday night, has been arrested by authorities in Columbia County.

The shooting, which occurred around 10:23 p.m., left a 42-year-old man dead. Deputies have not released his identity.

Paramedics transported a second shooting victim, 40, to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Tampa Police Department said their investigation led to the identification of a suspect, 24-year-old Eric J. Smith.

A warrant was issued for Smith and he was arrested on Monday, March 11in Lake City, which is in Columbia County.

Smith is charged with first degree premeditated murder, attempted murder and robbery.
