TAMPA, Fla. — Two men were arrested after an altercation with a security guard escalated into a shooting that injured multiple people at a Tampa nightclub early Friday morning.
The Tampa Police Department said officers arrived at the Pink Pussycat Lounge on North Nebraska Avenue around 2:59 a.m. when they received reports about shots being fired.
During an investigation, police said they learned that Ryan Moss, 26, and Kelvin Duran, 27, got into an altercation with the club's 25-year-old bodyguard, which "spilled out of the club" and "into the parking lot."
Police said Duran and Moss then drove their car towards the club entrance, stopping right in front of the door. When the security guard exited the building, Moss, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, fired a 9mm handgun from the window, striking him in the abdomen.
The security guard returned fire, striking the car and causing it to collide with another parked car, according to officials. TPD said officers apprehended the suspects when they arrived without further incident and provided first aid.
Three men in their early 30s who were uninvolved were also shot in the middle of the incident. They were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The security guard was also taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Police said they recovered all guns involved.
Moss was charged with attempted murder in the first degree and four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Duran was charged with principal to attempted murder in the first degree and principal aggravated battery with great bodily harm or deadly weapon.
They were both taken to Orient Road Jail.
"This is a dangerous situation."
