Multiple charges were filed after a man drove to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office without a license to escape his angry girlfriend.

Deputies say Jose Rodriguez drove straight to the sheriff's office seeking safety and protection.

At about 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, deputies received a report of two vehicles driving recklessly in the Sun City area.

A deputy sitting in his vehicle at District IV headquarters reported seeing two trucks pull in at a high rate of speed. Rodriguez was in the first car and yelled out "help me, she is following me."

Diana Padilla, his live-in girlfriend, jumped out of the second vehicle and tried to get into Rodriguez's car. Both vehicles had damage from when Padilla hit Rodriguez's door while pursuing him.

Rodriguez said it started earlier in the afternoon when Padilla thought he was seeing another woman. Padilla chased him and reportedly rammed her truck into his along the way.

Padilla was arrested for felony Aggravated Battery on a person using a deadly weapon (vehicle). Rodriguez was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
