TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly 18 months ago an electrical fire destroyed the historic Lee Elementary Magnet School of World Studies & Technology in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The cause of the fire was later determined to be accidental in nature.

Officials with Hillsborough County Schools released a rendering of the school's finished appearance as well as a new logo Thursday night.

The school colors are Burgundy, Navy Blue and Gold Trim and the mascot will be the Navigators.

Crews are expected to complete construction on the school, now named Tampa Heights Elementary, in time for the 2020 school year.

"School administrators will be revealing the new logo, the new theme of the school and also the mascot of the school," says Hillsborough County Schools spokeswoman Tanya Arja. "That's all things they've been working on and they want to share that with the community."

The school district created a new website dedicated to Tampa Heights Elementary updates. You can find that here.

Parents and neighbors are invited to learn more about the school at Thursday's informal meeting which begins at 6:00 p.m. at Young Middle Magnet School on MLK Jr. Boulevard in Tampa.
