HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County school leaders are set to approve school improvement projects at several of its elementary, middle and high schools at a board meeting on Tuesday.
Many of those upgrades will be paid for with the half-penny sales tax that voters approved back in 2018.
- Adams Middle Schoolwill get both HVAC and roof repairs and is set to be completed in Sept. 2020.
- Eisenhower Middle School is set to get partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) replacement, interior/exterior painting, ceilings and fixtures in Building 8. It should be complete by the end of July, according to the district.
- Franklin Middle Schoolwill be getting partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), public address system, carpet and VCT flooring replacements and interior/exterior painting. It is set to be complete by August 24, 2020.
- Gibsonton Elementary School will be getting partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), fire alarm system, exterior painting and roof replacements, and drainage improvements. Those projects should be finished by July 30, 2020.
- Leto High Schoolwill receive partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), roofing, fire alarm system, security system and public address system replacements. Those projects should be complete by July 21, 2020.
- Robinson Elementary Schoolwill receive partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), roof and partial window replacements and electrical upgrades to support the HVAC upgrades. However, the district says the magnitude of this project will require that the work be broken into two phases performed over two summers. The first phase will be complete by July 31, 2020.
- Tampa Bay Technical High School will receive gymnasium heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades.
- Valrico Elementary School will receive heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system upgrades and those projects should be finished in November 2020.
- Young Middle Schoolwill get partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) replacements in selected buildings. The project is scheduled to be finished on July 21, 2020.
Repairs, including fire alarm system repairs and a partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) replacement at Blake High School are now complete.
Lithia Springs Elementary School and Mintz Elementary Schools will be receiving roof repairs.
Hillsborough County School district leaders are also expected to approve security upgrades to two schools on Tuesday.
Those upgrades include a security wall modification project, proving securable classrooms will improve sound qualities for Bellamy Elementary School.
School board leaders are also approving a completed project to install a new secure entrance at Chamberlain High School. This project was completed in August 2019.
