TAMPA, Fla. — More people are home during COVID-19 and the Children's Board of Hillsborough County is noticing a startling statistic.
Infants are dying from unsafe sleep practices.
The Board wants to remind parents that safe sleep is important and to follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
Dexter Lewis, Public Relations Manager for the Children's Board of Hillsborough County says, "children under the age of one that can't lift their head, they don't have those muscles. Making sure they're sleeping alone, on their back and in a crib."
Both recommend the ABCs of safe sleep.
Despite COVID-19, the Children's Board is still fully operational and wanting to help families in the community.
