Hillsborough County is opening a financial assistance program to help small local businesses impacted by COVID-19.
Business owners can apply for three programs: one to help kick-start day to day expenses, another to re-hire workers and one to pay for improvements to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Businesses may only receive one Economic Recovery financial assistance program, even if they may otherwise qualify for more than one program.
"Small businesses are the life blood of our community and our economy," Director of Economic Development in the County Lindsey Kimball said. "And we want to do everything we can to support them. I think that's evident by the fact that Hillsborough County is putting 125 million dollars towards this small business program. That's quite a commitment. We believe that to be the largest commitment in the State of Florida if not the nation."
Applications for the Rapid Response Recovery Program can be submitted through the county's websitestarting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30.
