TAMPA, Fla. -- The Florida State Fair closed its doors early Thursday evening as all of Tampa Bay area braces for the damaging winds and possible severe weather.
The Florida State Fair announced on social media that it is closing at 5 p.m. ET and is expected to reopen at 9 a.m. Friday, February 7.
WEATHER ALERT: Tampa Bay at a slight risk of severe weather tonight into Friday
The announcement comes as wind advisories were issued for Tampa Bay area counties until Friday, 7 a.m. The strong winds prompted the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to shut down on both directions Thursday afternoon.
