TAMPA, Fla. — Some Hillsborough County students are getting national attention for their rendition of Hamilton.
Students from McKitrick Elementary School were disappointed when they couldn't perform songs from the popular Broadway play at the end of the school year so their teacher, Liisa DiTarando, suggested a Zoom performance instead.
One of the actors from the Broadway production of Hamilton even gave the kids a shout out on Twitter.

DiTarando used the play as a teaching tool for her students, some of whom are on the Autism spectrum.
"There are a lot of wonderful social and emotional learning lessons built into the play. We explored concepts such as empathy, perspective-taking, kindness, friendship, loyalty and communication, all while learning some great songs," said DiTarando on the school district's social media page.
