TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide that left one man dead in the middle of a busy road.
The homicide occurred around 2:41 p.m. Friday near Dale Mabry Highway and Busch Boulevard.
Deputies say 34-year-old Michael Montalbano was found deceased from upper body trauma at the scene. Deputies say that the victim was lying next to a gray Volkswagen Jetta.
Authorities say it happened after a confrontation with another person, who they believe knew the victim. It was not a random act of violence and deputies do not believe there to be any danger to the public.
Detectives determined that the incident occurred at an apartment complex located at 8505 Lincoln Cove Drive. Witnesses at the apartment complex reported seeing a possible white 4-door Dodge Journey SUV fleeing the scene.
