Deputies: 7th-grade student brought gun, ammunition to school in Hillsborough Co.

A 7th-grade student at Webb Middle School was arrested Monday after a pistol and ammunition was discovered in his backpack on campus.

An empty Diamondback Arms .380 semi-automatic pistol and two live bullets were found.

Hillsborough County School Resource Deputies arrested him for possession of a firearm on school property, and minor in possession of a firearm.

Tampa Police Department forwarded an anonymous tip they received over the weekend that a student with the same first name was selling drugs on school property and was known to carry a gun.

He was transported to the Hillsborough County Juvenile Assessment Center. The investigation continues.
