PLANT CITY, Fla. — If you're in the Plant City area over the next two weeks, expect to see a massive effort underway to beautify the historic downtown district.
City crews are tackling a list of more than 100 projects, including:
• Tree removal, replacement, and trimming
• Landscaping (redesign, repair, and standardization)
• Mulching
• Weeding
• Sod installation and replacement
• Pressure washing
• Painting (as needed)
• Bench refurbishment
• LED lighting installation
• Extension of sound system in McCall Park
• Concrete repairs
• Street repairs
• Curb repairs
• Street brick leveling
• Sidewalk repairs
• ADA enhancements at crosswalks and ramps
• City Hall facade improvements
• Trash can refurbishment and standardization
• Street and parking sign repair, replacement, and standardization
• Historic District sign repair, replacement, and standardization
• Lamppost painting
• General cleaning
• Street sweeping
• Gutter cleaning and clearing
After this initial wave of projects is complete, city crews, dubbed the Downtown Strike Team, will then be dedicated to keeping the historic district in the best shape it can be, according to city leaders.
