TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Police say right now they are searching for the person who killed a woman and left her body in a car behind an abandoned home in Tampa.

Essie Harrison says just after 7 a.m. on Monday, she saw a car parked behind the abandoned home next door to her.

Harrison called the non-emergency line to report it.

"My concern was that the car may've been stolen, that's why I called," said Harrison.

When police arrived to the home on North 43rd Street and East Fern Street, they found the body of a young woman inside the car.

Right now, police are not identifying the victim or giving any further information but they did confirm the woman is a homicide victim.

The victim's family was on scene.

“She’s nice. She’s friendly. She gives the person the last if she has it. She does not have nothing negative coming behind her. And I just pray they catch him,” said a family member, who asked ABC Action News to not identify her. The woman told ABC Action News she is her cousin.

Police would not name any suspects or give any further information at this time.

Tampa Police is asking anyone who may have information about what happened to call (813) 276-3200 or Crime Stoppers' anonymous tipline at 1-800-873-8477.
