Not all heroes wear capes. Some just want to make sure the pets in the area have loving fur-ever homes.
A woman has anonymously donated $2,000 to sponsor the adoptions of 100 dogs or cats from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center.
The woman said she wanted to bring attention to the reality that there are numerous pets in need of a healthy, happy home.
The donation covers the $20 cost for pets that have already been vaccinated, registered, micochipped, and spayed or neutered.
The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center says they have had good samaritans "pay it forward" and pay for the adoptions of one or a small group of pets, but it's very rare for someone to sponsor so many adoptions.
The sponsored adoptions begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 at the Pet Resource Center located at 440 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
